October and November in Dominica are a vibrant time of year as the island celebrates its Creole heritage and independence. The atmosphere is electric, filled with music, dance, and cultural events. The highlight of the season is the World Creole Music Festival, a major international event attracting thousands of visitors.
The Kalinago, are the indigenous people of Dominica. They have inhabited the island for centuries, leaving a rich cultural heritage that continues to shape Dominican society today. The Kalinago people are known for their vibrant culture, which includes traditional dances, music, crafts, and rituals. Their language, Kalinago, is still spoken by a small number of people on the island.
Dominica's Carnival is a vibrant celebration held annually in February and March. Rooted in the island's African and European heritage, it features J'ouvert, a pre-dawn celebration, calypso competitions, pageantry and many other exciting activities. The culmination is a grand parade filled with music, dance, and colorful costumes.
Carnival is more than just a party; it is a reflection of Dominica's history, culture, and resilience. It is a time for people to come together, celebrate their heritage, and express their joy and creativity.
Dive Fest is an annual event hosted by the Dominica Watersports Association. Its purpose is to educate the public about scuba diving, one of Dominica’s main tourist attractions — and to have lots of fun while doing it!
Dominica’s Dive Fest is the longest running Diving Festival in the Caribbean. The event has been held annually since 1994, with the exception of 2017 (Hurricane Maria) and 2020 (Corona Virus).
Layou’s annual Titiwi Festival celebrates the small fish known as the “titiwi.” They have built a unique local cuisine around this small delicacy and the Festival gives everyone else a chance to taste it!
The village of Layou is on Dominica’s west coast, just 20 minutes north of the capital, Roseau. It is located at the mouth of Dominica’s longest river (the Layou River) and is thus well-positioned for the natural phenomenon that brings thousands of small fish (titiwi) right to its banks each month.
The Titiwi Festival began in 2007 and has been growing bigger and better each year.
The PAYS Dominica Yachting Festival will consist of a series of events which range from tours to entertainment nights from March 22nd to 30th. Our annual week of festivities is aimed at displaying sincere appreciation to our yachting community and introducing our beautiful island through tours, beach activities, entertainment, community service, and local culinary art!
Hike Fest is an annual event celebrating the island's natural beauty and its rich hiking culture. This festival offers a variety of guided hikes allowing participants to explore Dominica's lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and breathtaking viewpoints. With a focus on sustainability and community engagement, Hike Fest provides a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience the island's vibrant culture every Saturday in the month of May.
As the name implies, Pork Fest is a culinary festival of pork with the meat being prepared in all sorts of methods imaginable and in some ways that you perhaps never thought possible. Get ready for your taste buds to be pleasantly surprised. There are a number of stalls available to patronize-each having their own unique pork dishes, along with side orders and drinks to choose from.

The Giraudel-Eggleston Flower Show is held jointly by the two villages of Giraudel and Eggleston, located in the foothills of Morne Anglais. The Flower Show and Market Fair has been an exquisite floricultural tradition of the twin communities since 1973 and is renowned for its profusion of exotic floral displays, gardening and landscaping, and retail exhibition of their harvest
Kalinago Week has been celebrated during the week of September 19th each year, since 1981. It is to observe the past, (an occurrence in 1930), as well as showcase the rich cultural heritage.
